
Leah Lawrence is a professional engineer, economist and writer who has spent her career working on climate change and environmental technology issues. As well as running her own private consulting business, she is columnist and writer on environmental and sustainable energy issues for Oilweek.
From 2000 to 2003, she helped start Climate Change Central, the first public-private partnership on climate change in Canada. From 2004 to 2005, she partnered with a Utah-based greenhouse gas credit and physical CO2 company to try and kick-start a CO2 business in Alberta. From 2006 to 2008 she worked on carbon capture and storage and CO2-enhanced oil recovery with Canada's largest independent oil and gas producer.
Leah sits on the Board of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Environment and Natural Resource committees. She is also on the boards of the Calgary YMCA and Alberta Economic Development Authority. She is a past board member of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy and the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists (APEGGA).
