Small Business Week FAQs

When is the deadline for nominations?

Completed nomination forms must be received by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce no later then 4:30 p.m. Monday June 21, 2010. Only completed forms will be accepted.

Who can be nominated?

The RBC Calgary Small Business of the Year award is open to independently owned businesses within the City of Calgary who have been operating for a minimum of 3 years as of May 1, 2010 and has less then 100 employees.

Who selects the winners and how are they selected?

A selection committee formed of an independent panel of judges will select the winners. The selection committee will review each application against the award criteria; the short listed companies will then be contacted for an interview. Following the interviews the selection committee chooses the winners from the short listed companies.

Is my information confidential?

All information collected for the purpose of the nomination will be kept confidential, only to be shared with the independent panel of judges. No information will be publicly disclosed without permission given by the nominee.

When will I be notified if I am a winner and what is required of a winner?

Finalists will be notified in late July/early August. Finalists will be contacted to provide information that will be used in promotional material for Small Business Week. This will include but not be limited to: photo shoots, video shoots and media interviews. Winners and Finalists may also be invited to participate in Chamber events during Small Business Week.

When are awards presented?

The awards will be presented at the Awards Gala Dinner during Small Business Week 2010, on Monday October 18th. The 2010 Small Business Week runs October 18 - 22, 2010.
